    Some people think reading is a boring hobby, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Reading is a very rewarding task that helps you to learn, train your brain, be on a mental adventure, and relax. People who read a lot are often said to be smart. And there are so many good books to read out there!

    So, you should definitely read more books this coming year. If your schedule is too busy for books, rethink your time management. Instead of staring at your phone on the bus or the toilet, just read some pages. Before going to bed, don’t watch movies or shows, read. You can do it, and you won’t regret it!

  2. Travel more

    Become a globetrotter!

    Do you want to see the world? Now’s your chance! Take some time off work and go on a trip.

    If you can’t afford to travel or don’t have the time, rethink! You don’t have to go overseas or even abroad. Do you even know your own country? Take weekend trips to cities not too far away, visit national parks, etc.

  3. Spend more time with family and friends

    Often we spend too much time with the unimportant things in life. Reconnect with family and friends, create new and exciting memories, and do stuff together.

    Some people are way too focused on their career or, even worse, on stuff like video games, social media, etc. Even if you’re actually doing things of high importance, don’t neglect the ones you love!

    Stop wasting, start saving!

    A lot of people have a habit of spending money on things they don’t actually need. Instead of the hundredth piece of clothing, be happy with what you already have. Instead of ordering food, again and again, just start cooking.

    There are plenty of tips and tricks online that tell you how to save money. And it’s actually quite easy!

  5. Learn a new skill

    Learning never stops!

    It’s never wrong to learn something new. Be it a musical instrument, a new language, programming, cooking, whatever! Be creative and try new things! Maybe you’ll even find your true passion!

    But sometimes, new isn’t necessarily better. Why don’t you try perfecting a skill instead? Just don’t put yourself under too much pressure. It should stay fun!

  6. Exercise more

    Become sporty!

    A lot of us are real couch potatoes and our work consists of sitting all day. That can get quite unhealthy, actually! Back pain, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. can all be a result of moving too little.

    If being sporty isn’t something you really desire, it’s sometimes already enough if you go for a daily walk. And don’t forget about a healthy diet! If you’re already exercising a lot, the latter should be sufficient enough.

  7. Drink less/smoke less

    Drugs are bad!

    Yep, sometimes it’s good enough to not stop something completely, but just try to focus on doing it less and less, until it eventually fades by itself. If you like abrupt transitions more, just stop it right away. But the potential for failure is greater that way.

    If you’re, for example, drinking every week, try reducing it to once a month. If you’re smoking ten cigarettes a day, try reducing it to five. And every month you keep on reducing. You can do it!

    Or if you want to, you can lessen another bad habit of yours. It doesn’t have to be drinking or smoking. You know yourself best!

  8. Less social media

    Stop scrolling!

    Social media has gotten a pain for a lot of people. It’s a true time stealer. If you want to have more valuable free time, try to limit your screen time, or uninstall several social media platforms from your phone. If that’s too abrupt for you, put them in hard to reach folders, so you don’t open them all the time out of habit.

    And if you’re on your PC, try using browser extensions that block or limit your access.

  9. Volunteer

    Give society something back

    It can be very rewarding to be a volunteer for something. Yes, you don't get any money, but you'll feel definitely better.

    There are a bazillion ways to get voluntary, just come up with something yourself.

  10. Take care of yourself

    Slow down, you crazy child!

    You don’t have to have a New Year’s resolution, you know? We’re all stressed enough nowadays. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and let the New Year be a relaxed one. Take care of yourself and try to live a happy life. You’ll do just fine!

  11. Work toward your goals

    Goals, goals, goals!

    This coming year you will make some huge leaps forward. Work hard toward your goals and you’ll make it one day. Just don’t put too much pressure on yourself!

    Yes, it can be difficult, especially if you got a full time job. But try to make some time for it. Less screen time, less social media, sleep a little less, and you’ll do it!

  12. Stay true to yourself

    Don’t bend over backwards!

    Stay true to yourself. Don’t let anyone change who you are, except you’re the driving force behind it. If you want to become a better version of yourself, do it. If you’re happy with who you are, then stay the same way. Never put yourself under too much pressure. Life is hard enough!
