Hayao Miyazaki

Hayao Miyazaki is one of the founders of Studio Ghibli and probably the most famous one. But besides being a Japanese animator, he is also a director, producer, screenwriter, author, and manga artist.

Being a co-founder of Studio Ghibli, he has attained international acclaim for his masterful storytelling and excellent animated films.

Miyazaki’s works often have recurring themes, such as humanity’s relationship with nature and technology, traditional living, the importance of art, and pacifism in a violent world like ours.

What sets Miyazaki apart from many other male authors is that his protagonists are often strong women, while the antagonists feel alive with their moral ambiguity and redeeming qualities.
