The game’s genre is Visual Novel/Adventure, and Kazutaka Kodaka created it. Kodaka was also the writer and director of the game.

There are three different versions of Danganronpa:
Danganronpa 1 was released in 2010, and takes place in Hope’s Peak Academy. The game features 16 students trapped in the school and must kill each other to escape.
Danganronpa 2 was released in 2012, and takes place on an island. The game features 16 students who must work together to escape the island, but there is a traitor among them working against them.

Danganronpa 3 was released in 2016, and takes place in an alternate world from the first two games. The game features two sets of 16 students, one set trying to stop the other from causing a world-ending event.
Danganronpa was first released on the PSP in 2010, and was later ported to the PS Vita in 2012. After its rising success, the game was also made available to play on PC, iOS, and Android devices.
