Or do you think of a hot date with your crush, which potentially could lead to sexual activities? Both are legitimate. Although, most of you will probably think of the latter statement.

The story of Netflix and Chill

Netflix and Chill was first mentioned in a non-sexual context in January 2009 in a Twitter post by “NoFaceNina” (La Shanda Rene Foster):

“I’m about to log onto Netflix and chill for the rest of the night.”

Originally, the term had no sexual meaning, but simply referred to a cozy movie night.

In mid-2014, the term Netflix and Chill became more and more common in the African-American black twitter community. “Chill” was written in italics to make the sexual meaning clear (see Wikipedia).

Definition of Netflix and Chill

In April 2015, there was the first definition of Netflix and Chill in the Urban Dictionary by the user “laxbuhl7”.

The best movies for your Netflix and Chill Date

The golden rule when choosing a film is that the film is not too rousing but also not boring. Because with a really exciting film, you might prefer to watch the film to the end than having sex.

Sharknado

Sharknado is a trash film at its finest that deals with sharks flying in tornadoes that devastate Los Angeles. Rotten Tomatoes describes the film as “shamelessly and gloriously brainless”. Sharknado gives the phrase “so bad it’s good” a new meaning.

Despite the bad reviews, the film apparently went down so well that five more parts were shot.

  • 2014: Sharknado 2
  • 2015: Sharknado 3
  • 2016: Sharknado 4
  • 2017: Sharknado Global Swarming
  • 2018: Sharknado 6 - The Last One

50 first dates

50 First Dates is a comedy movie from 2004 starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The movie is about Lucy (Drew Barrymore), who suffers from amnesia due to an accident. Every day she forgets what happened on the previous day. Building a relationship is pretty difficult under these circumstances. The film tells a heartwarming and humorous story that creates a romantic atmosphere.

Paranormal Activity

The first movie of Paranormal Activity is about a couple observing paranormal phenomena in their home. The film Paranormal Activity consists of a collection of videos from a security camera. This makes the story seem even more real. Paranormal Activity is perfect for a Netflix and Chill Date because the story is not really demanding, but it still creates a good scare. And, as we know, scare leads to physical contact. 😏

Lost in Translation

Scarlett Johansan and Bill Murray are a dream couple in the film “Lost in Translation”. Even if the age difference between the two actors is a little terrifying (Scarlett was only 17 years old at the time). The story is both romantic and a little melancholic. Coppola, the director, received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2004.

The Big Lebowski

Unfortunately, the movie is currently not available on Netflix, but it is on Amazon Prime. Maybe you can make an exception and do “Amazon Prime & Chill” instead of Netflix & Chill. The movie “The Big Lebowski”, released in 1998, is about a guy who happens to have the same name as a multimillionaire and therefore gets into big trouble.

Disney Plus and Thrust

Some say “Disney+ and Thrust” is the new “Netflix and Chill”. We think it’s a good addition. But what’s really the deal with “Disney+ and Thrust”? Are there possibly movies on Disney Plus, which are better suited for a romantic date?

Find out if ‘Disney + and Thrust’ is your thing

If you and your date like the following films and genres, then “Disney+ and Thrust” is the right choice for you.

Marvel Movies

A Disney+ subscription definitely pays off for all Marvel fans. Except for the Spiderman films, all movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are available on Disney+.

8 of the 12 films from the X-Men film series are available:

  • X-Men (2000)
  • X-Men 2 (2003)
  • X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
  • X-Men: First Decision (2011)
  • Wolverine: Way of the Warrior (2013)
  • X-Men: Future is Past (2014)
  • Deadpool (2016)
  • X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

Star Wars Movies - May the “Thrust” be with you…

The range of Star Wars movies and TV-shows is unbeatable. For Star Wars fans, we recommend the TV-Show “The Mandalorian”, which was broadcast on Disney Plus for the first time on November 12, 2019.

In addition to the Star Wars movies, there are also sequels such as “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (2018) and other Star Wars series.

Disney Classics

There is no better way to get to know each other than to indulge in childhood memories together. Check out your favorite Disney classic and start cuddling.

If you are interested in remakes of Disney classics, we recommend the following:

  • Susi and Strolch (2019)
  • The Lion King (2019)
  • Dumbo (2019)
  • Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Pixar

Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Wall-E, Monster Inc. and many more are films that you can watch again and again. Fortunately, you are never too old for Pixar films.

National Geographic

Animal and nature documentaries are ideal for a Disney+ and Thrust date. Not too exciting, but still nice to watch. We recommend the documentation “Planet of the Birds”, which explains, among other things, the mating behavior of different bird species. Maybe you can learn something from the birds for your foreplay. They are definitely more creative than people when it comes to sex.
