What is What Do You Meme?

Made by the company “What Do You Meme?” (Yes, that is their company name!), the game “What Do You Meme?” uses a question-and-answer format.

But instead of answering a question, What Do You Meme? has you captioning memes!

If you’re not sure what memes are, memes are humorous images/videos/texts that have gone viral and spread throughout the internet. 😂

The game is suited for players ages 17+ and can be played with 3 to 20+ players. Depending on the size of the group, the whole game can take about 30-90 minutes ⏳

Pack Content:

Here’s what you can expect when you open the “What Do You Meme? Core Pack”.

There are two types of What Do You Meme? Cards:

  • 360 caption cards
  • 75 photocards

But aside from all of this, you also get the following:

  • 1 sexy easel*
  • a rule book that includes some bonus rules

*Yes, it is called a sexy easel! Only because the material is made out of simple cardboard, which makes it thin.

How to Play What Do You Meme

Setting up is easy! The game starts with everyone getting 7 caption cards each. It states in the rule book that the person who has the most Instagram followers is the game’s first judge, but don’t worry! You can think of your own way to decide who goes first.

The judge now picks out a photo card and places it on the easel for everyone to see. All players now have to submit an entry (1 caption card) to the judge. Note that entries are supposed to be submitted facing down, and the judge should shuffle the entries before reading them.

After the judge reads all entries, they now decide which caption was the most enticing. Whoever submitted the winning caption now gets to keep the photo card that they captioned. This is just to keep track of the points. 💯

Do you want to know, how to win at What Do You Meme? At the very end of the game, whoever has the most caption cards on hand wins the game! 🎉

1. Cards Against Humanity

“Cards Against Humanity” uses the same game format: question-and-answer.

Yet unlike “What Do You Meme?”, “Cards Against Humanity” actually uses questions and answers! And instead of a judge, we use Card Czar for “Cards Against Humanity”.

In “Cards Against Humanity”, the Card Czar must draw a black card (A.K.A the question card), and everyone must answer with at least one white card (or the answer card; this depends on the type of question you get).

👉 Here you can find out more about Cards Against Humanity!

2. Exploding Kittens

If you like the suspense in What Do You Meme? of not knowing who the winner is, then you should try out “Exploding Kittens”! “Exploding Kittens” uses Russian-roulette-like gameplay to determine the winner.

You get a certain amount of cards along with a diffuse card, and you end a turn by drawing a card from the draw pile.

This goes on until someone draws an Exploding Kitten card which puts them out of the game (if you’re out of diffuse cards!)
